About Us
 I'm Torsten Fischer, a professional natural stone flooring adviser and installer. I've spent almost 30 years as a tiler, (along with my Father, Brother and Brother-in-law) specialising in all aspects of stone flooring, both as a retailer and installer, working with architects and builders on all sorts of projects from huge commercial projects like shopping malls through to laying natural stone floors in hundreds of residential homes.
I've designed numerous stone floor lay-outs and tiled everything from a 200 foot long underground commuter tunnel with mural (Sweden) to a striking outdoor stone water feature for a local council (Bondi Beach, Sydney Australia).
When operating my natural stone retail shops I became known in the industry as a perfectionist. In sourcing the best stone for customers I would regularly be found searching through the crates of stone in the yards, chalking the batches I wanted for a particular job.
To me, stone selection is critical in getting the best possible look for an installation, along with choosing the right person to lay your stone flooring (which, of course, may well be you)! I know a lot about the business side of the industry... a rich experience which results in me offering you pretty valuable information!

Ceramic Tiler
Received Indenture of Apprenticeship with Otto Fischer T/A Fischer and Sons in Southport Queensland. Worked with Otto and George Fischer installing ceramic tile walls and floors both domestically and commercially.

| 1981 - 1984 |
I worked as a slate/sandstone/marble tiler for "Sydney Slate Centre". David Matthews the proprietor assigned Otto and I to jobs such as "Macquarie Shopping Centre" in Ryde to install slate and ceramic steps and risers as other tilers on site found this difficult. Through "Sydney Slate Centre" I was introduced to Mr. Leon Francis from "Mellocco Brothers" in Botany and the skill of installing marble and granite was pursued. |

| 1984- 1999 |
I joined my Father and Brother to establish a family business "Parramatta Slate", installing ceramic; slate; sandstone; marble and granite floor and walls for both domestic and commercial applications. |

| 1999 - 2001 |
I took over the family business (expanding to 2 locations) Parramatta Slate of Parramatta and Kellyville Slate of Kellyville in Sydney, employing several sub-contract installers.
I also offered an on-site tuition service for the 'do- it- yourself' stone flooring installers. This service was readily accepted along with a step by step video where I demonstrated how to install a slate floor.

I produced a top quality DVD (along with a great film production company) which empowers people to install their own stone flooring, titled 'Lay Your Own Sandstone & Slate Floor'. |

I'm presently renovating a dilapidated shack on a beautiful stretch of The Hawkesbury River near Sydney (It has lovely tawny-beige slate floors now!)
